Cupressus sempervirens 

The cypress tree is characterized by being relatively fast-growing, resistant to diseases, and durable at the same time. These properties make the cypress tree suitable for use as a windbreak, especially in agricultural areas, as it is evergreen and large enough (about 30 meters) to protect a distance of up to 300 meters from the prevailing wind direction.

It is worth to notice that a windbreak is necessary in places open to continuous wind, which cause desiccation of plants leaves thereby resulting in higher evapotranspiration from the leaves causing stress on plants and eventually lower productivity.

تتميز شجرة السرو بانها سريعة النمو نسبيا، مقاومة للامراض، ومعمرة في نفس الوقت. هذه الخواص يجعل شجرة السرو مناسبة للاسعمال كمصد للرياح خاصة في المناطق الزراعية، كونها دائمة الخضرة وكبيرة كفاية (حوالي 30 متر) حيث تحمي مسافة من الارض تصل الى 300 متر من اتجاه الرياح المؤاتية. 

ومن الجدير بالذكر أن مصدات الرياح ضرورية في الأماكن المفتوحة للرياح المستمرة، مما يسبب جفاف أوراق النباتات وبالتالي يؤدي إلى زيادة التبخر من الأوراق مما يسبب ضغطاً على النباتات وبالتالي انخفاض الإنتاجية.
