In Lebanon, this species has a broad natural distribution range: It can be found on the coast,in the mountains (where it grows up to 1500 meters in altitude), on dry rocky slopes, in semi-shaded woodlands, and along river beds.

The fragrant resin ‘storax’ is obtained by wounding the stem. It is used medicinally, in perfumes, incense etc.
