وهو أحد أنواع القيقب الثلاثة التي تعيش في لبنان، وهو النوع الوحيد الذي لا تتساقط أوراقه، ويمكن العثور عليه على طول الأنهار والجداول من مستوى سطح البحر حتى ارتفاع 1200 متر. أفضل الأماكن للزراعة هي الأماكن شبه الظليلة. الأوراق الجديدة التي تتشكل في الربيع تكون ذات لون بني محمر في البداية ثم تتحول تدريجياً إلى اللون الأخضر، لتكشف عن بذور السمارا الحمراء الزاهية. يمكن أن تنمو حتى 10 م.

It is one of three maple species that live in Lebanon, the only one that does not shed leaves, can be found along rivers and creeks from sea level up to 1200m elevation. The best locations for planting are semi shady places. The new leaves forming in spring are reddish brown at first and gradually turn green, revealing the bright red samaras (seeds). Can grow up to 10 m.
